The Clerk's Office (Room 314) prepares witness subpoenas and subpoena duces tecum (subpoenas for the production of records) for civil cases. Subpoena requests should be delivered to the Circuit Court Clerk's Office. A letter specifying the request must be provided. Subpoena requests should be in compliance with the Code of Virginia and Rules of the Virginia Supreme Court and this Court's suggested guidelines for the appropriate case type.
Provide the original plus two copies of request for each party to be served.
Foreign Subpoenas
The Uniform Interstate Deposition & Discovery Act, VA Code §8.01-412.8 through §8.01-412.15 allows issuance of a subpoena in cases originating outside the Commonwealth of Virginia. The court of record must submit a subpoena to the Clerk of the Circuit Court serving the jurisdiction where the discovery/witness is sought.

If you would like a date stamped copy returned to you, please provide one additional copy of your documents and a self-addressed stamped envelope.
The person or entity being subpoenaed must be in Prince William County or in the Cities of Manassas & Manassas Park.
