Do you have financial expertise or experience in banking, financial planning, taxes or budgeting? Would you enjoy making a difference in our community by leading financial seminars, or coaching clients? Use your expertise and become a Virginia Cooperative Extension Master Financial Educator Volunteer. Our passion is to share research-based methods for improving personal financial health.
The purpose of a Master Financial Educator Volunteer (MFEV) certification is to share research-based proven methods for leading financial education sessions. VCE programs support positive personal finance habits that lead to improved quality of life for the community. MFEVs incorporate financial best practices and tools that foster reducing student debt, growing savings, improving credit scores or assisting clients using financial apps. MFEVs empower students to make better-informed financial decisions.
Volunteers share real-world experiences with our clients. Our training program will prepare you with the current financial tools, apps, & resources. Our 6-week training class begins February 24, 2025, and will continue through March 31, 2025. Classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. The first and last sessions will be in person, and all others will be virtual. An additional 6 to 8 hours of shadowing and hands on instruction follows. Class size is limited. Applicants must commit to the full 6-week program.
Background screening required and included in the registration fee of $80.00. Registration includes background check, USB drive containing training materials, MFEV polo shirt and name tag.
