Fines & Costs

Prepayment Online

You may make prepayments for fines and other minor offenses through the Courts Automated Information System. To pay online see the instructions below:

Go to www.vacourts.gov
On the home page, on the right hand side, click on Pay Traffic Tickets and Other Offenses.
Click on the second option: Pay Traffic Tickets and Other Cases in a General District Court
Under the instructions for Pre-Court and Post-Court Payments (halfway down the screen in the middle), click on the hyperlink (underlined words) in number 2, General District Court Online Case Information System
Read the Terms and Conditions of Use and Click Accept; complete the CAPTCHA/click on squares requirement (if required)
At the Welcome to the General District Court Online Case Information System page on the left-hand side, choose court (Prince William County General District Court) from the drop-down menu and under Traffic/Criminal, search by name, case number, hearing date or process
Select the case or cases you want to pay. For one case, you can click the blue case number on the left-hand side. For more than one case you can click mark for payment for each case you want to pay. Scroll & Click Process Payment; read and verify the cases you have marked for payment, click Continue, enter customer and payment information, and print receipt for your records.

Prepayment in Person

Prepayments can be made in person any day prior to the day of court at the General District Court located at 9311 Lee Avenue, Manassas, VA 20110. The Court will accept cash, check, money order or credit card payments (VISA, MASTERCARD or DISCOVER).

Prepayment by Phone

Prepayments can be made by phone at 703-792-6141 using a credit card (VISA, MASTERCARD or DISCOVER)

PLEASE NOTE: All District Courts will assess a 4% credit card convenience fee for credit card payments. This fee is applicable to ALL credit card payments accepted either in person, by phone or via the internet. No exceptions can be made to this fee.

Prepayment by Mail

Prepayments must be received five (5) days prior to the hearing date when sent by mail with the yellow copy of the summons. The Court will not be responsible if any delays occur due to mail service. Make check or money order payable to General District Court, and mail your prepayments to:

Notice:

Please be advised that handwritten summons from an Officer must be manually entered into the system so please allow adequate time for your case to be entered before attempting to make payment.

Failure to Pay

If you do not appear on the Court date or pay the fines and costs prior to the Court date, the Court will proceed to try the case in your absence and, upon conviction, the Judge may impose a fine that is different from the amounts shown on this page. Also, pursuant to Virginia Code Section 16.1-69.48:1, an additional penalty of $35.00 will be assessed.
