When making a payment online or by telephone, you will need the eight-digit Tax Account number for the account you're paying. The Tax Account number can be found on the billing statement (at the top right corner), through the Taxpayer Portal, or by calling 703-792-6710. Notice: Prince William County works directly with ACI Payments Inc. to provide convenient online and telephone payment options. The County is not affiliated with other online bill pay websites like DOXO. Using these sites may result in missed, delayed, or unauthorized payments and unexpected charges and fees. All payments should be made through the County’s online Taxpayer Portal at https://tax.pwcgov.org/.


PAY ONLINE BY DEBIT/CREDIT CARD

Tax payments can be made online using American Express, MasterCard, Visa, and Discover Card.

All online credit and debit card payments are subject to a service fee. The fee is based on the amount of the transaction. The service fee is paid directly to the company processing the card payment. No part of this fee goes to the County. Before authorizing payment, you can review the fee amount and decide whether to accept the fee or cancel the transaction.

PAY ONLINE BY ELECTRONIC CHECK

An electronic check is a convenient way to pay online using your checking account.

The County processes all electronic check payments.

To make a payment, you will need the following:

  • Account number listed on the tax bill.
  • Last or Business name.
  • Amount you wish to pay.
  • Checking account number.
  • Bank routing number.

Follow These Steps to Pay by Telephone: You will need the Tax Account number on your billing statement near the top right-hand corner.

  • Have pen, paper, and tax bill ready before calling.
  • Dial 1-888-2PAY TAX (1-888-272-9829) using a touch-tone telephone.
  • When prompted, enter Jurisdiction Code 1036 for Prince William County.
  • Press 1 for Personal Property Tax.
  • Press 2 for Real Estate Tax.
  • Enter the Tax Account numbers listed on the billing statement.
  • Enter your payment card information.
  • The system will verbally provide you with a receipt number to write down.

The automated system will prompt you for the information it needs to process your payment. Please write down the receipt number in case you have questions about your payment.


PAY BY MAIL

Please make your check or money order payable to "Prince William County."

For prompt processing, tax payments should be mailed with the tear-off remittance slip placed in the return envelope that comes with the tax bill.

A single check may be used to pay multiple bills. When paying multiple bills, please include the tear-off remittance slips of each bill with the payment.

The directions on most tax bills direct you to return payment to PO Box 70519, PHILADELPHIA, PA  19176-0519. This address is a mail collection point for remittance processing. The County uses a remittance processor to ensure that transactions are accurately captured and posted.

PAY IN PERSON AT A COUNTY LOCATION

To pay in person, please visit our office locations for hours of operation and directions to one of our two taxpayer services locations. Payment options include cash, money order, check, pin-debit card, and credit card payments (Mastercard or Visa) with a convenience fee.

Drop Box

Make a payment 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at a depository box located near the main entrance of any Taxpayer Services location. Drop-off payment options include checks and money orders. Checks are to be made payable to: "Prince William County" or "PWC". To ensure payment is processed correctly, please have your bill stub, account number, or other description of the bill to which payment will be credited. You can drop off payments on your schedule without standing in line. Easy. Simple. Secure.
