Operational Medical Director
The Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Operations division is responsible for the management, oversight, and development of the departments more than 1,000 EMS providers. Doctor Kevin Campbell, Operational Medical Director (OMD), and Battalion Chief Chip Morrison, EMS Battalion Chief, lead the EMS Operations division. Together, the OMD and EMS Battalion Chief ensure the EMS system is adequately addressing the needs of the citizens in Prince William County. The EMS Operations division focuses on the six pillars of EMS (Detection, Response, Reporting, On-Scene Care, Care in Transit, and Transfer to Definitive Care) to ensure all patients receive world-class treatment.
In addition to the OMD and EMS Battalion Chief, the division has several uniformed fire and rescue personnel assigned to it. In total, two Captains and three Lieutenants are responsible for the day-to-day administrative and operational needs of the EMS System. Some responsibilities of these personnel include EMS billing compliance, cardiac resuscitation program management, EMS provider internships, protocol/procedure development, and quality assurance/improvement.
