The Community Safety Section is under the direction of Assistant Chief Matt Smolsky. He is responsible for managing the Fire Marshal’s Office, Public Education, Public Information, Office of Emergency Management and Hazardous Materials. The Community Safety Section is responsible for a vast array of duties including: reducing the community's risk to fire loss, fire inspections, fire protection plans review and system testing, fire and arson investigation, accident and injury prevention, community awareness and outreach, public information and education, disaster preparedness, response, mitigation and recovery, and environmental response and safety.
