The Department of Tax Administration is responsible for uniformly assessing and billing Personal Property tax, Business License tax, Business Tangible tax, Machinery and Tools, Transient Occupancy tax, Food and Beverage tax, Utility Tax, Public Service, and Bank Franchise; and the collection of all local taxes including real estate, and other related fees for Prince William County. We strive to provide the best customer service to Prince William County residents through our Taxpayer Services Division comprised of our Service Counters, Call Center, email, website, and tax portal.

REAL ESTATE TAXES DUE

Prince William County real estate taxes for the first half of 2024 are due on July 15, 2024. If you have not received a tax bill for your property and believe you should have, contact the Taxpayer Services Office at (703) 792-6710 or by email at [email protected]. The Taxpayer Services office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. A late payment penalty of 10% will be assessed on the unpaid tax balance if taxes are not paid in full by the due date. Interest at a rate of 10% per annum accrues monthly until the balance is paid in full. Payments can be made by electronic check (free) or credit card online (convenience fee) at tax.pwcgov.org or by phone (convenience fee) by calling 1-888-272-9829, jurisdiction code is 1036; by mail to PO BOX 70519, Philadelphia, PA 19176-0519, and in person at our Sudley North and McCoart Taxpayer Services offices from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. If you receive a tax bill and escrow property taxes with your mortgage company, you should contact your mortgage company immediately.

Delayed Opening - Third Wednesday of each Month for Staff Training

Taxpayer Services offices will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month to allow staff time for training. Dates that this will be in effect for 2024 are as follows: 7/17, 8/21, 9/18, 10/16, 11/20, & 12/18.
