Animal Control Officers, of the Prince William County Police Department's Animal Services Bureau, enforce County Animal Code/Ordinances and Virginia State Animal Law. These laws describe the requirements for ownership and care of animals, as well as offenses involving animals.
Our small group of professionals service the entirety of Prince William County, some 348 square miles. Education and enforcement regarding animal laws in our community are their focus. They exclusively answer and investigate thousands of calls for service regarding animals each year. Animal Control Officers assist with injured, sick or stray animals, and investigate everything from minor code violations to cases which may involve felony animal crimes.
If you believe you have information regarding a violation of animal law or a situation that may involve an issue regarding animal welfare, please call the Prince William County Police non-emergency number (703) 792-6500. Please provide the telephone operator with a detailed description of your concern. The information you provide will be forwarded to an Animal Control Officer for investigation.
