WHY ADOPT FROM US?

If you are considering a new pet, adopting from the Animal Services Center makes sense for many reasons:

• You will save two lives -- the pet you adopt and a homeless animal who can move into the space you helped free up. Thanks to pet overpopulation and limited Center capacity, the more people willing and able to adopt the better for our four-legged friends.

• Companion animals of all breeds, shapes, ages and sizes are available at our Center.  People often think animals end up in the Center because they've been abused or misbehaved. Most animals are given to the Center due to family allergy,  financial constraints, a move, a divorce, or a lack of time and interest in properly raising and training their pets. These are among the most common reasons that pets lose their homes. The animals just need a second chance at a forever home.

• Mature, adult pets are available.  There’s a possibility you can avoid some of the hassles related to house-training and teething, which are associated with kittens and puppies. If you prefer a kitten or puppy, we may have those too!

• Adopting from the Center will save you money!  Adopting a pet from the center is much less expensive than buying a pet through a breeder or a pet store. Animals adopted from the Center have received basic medical care and are spayed and neutered at low cost, which makes the Center's fee a real bargain.

• Adopting a pet will make you feel better.  Pets give you unconditional love and have been shown to be a health benefit. Caring for a companion animal can provide a sense of purpose and fulfillment. Spending time with an animal, to include walking and playing with them, has been shown to improve your physical health. Pets are good friends and good medicine, and they can improve your life in many ways.
