Juvenile Pretrial Supervision

The Juvenile Pretrial Supervision Program (JPSP) serves as an alternative to secure detention pending court adjudication for juveniles between the ages of 10-17. Community supervision is provided in the form of face-to-face contacts through various settings (home, Program’s offices, school, work, etc.). Supervision may also include electronic monitoring through a global positioning system (GPS). All participants are referred by the local Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court or the local Court Services Unit. The primary goals of the Program are to assure the youth availability for all scheduled court hearings, be held accountable for their actions, ensure public safety, prevent further delinquency pending adjudication, engage parent/guardians in an active role, and make referral to community resources when appropriate and available. The program allows the juveniles to remain in the custody of their parent(s) or guardian(s) pending the outcome of the court’s final disposition. During the program period, all juveniles are expected to continue their education, and/or employment without disruption, and participate in assigned group activities. For additional information on JPSP, please call (703) 792-3201.
