As the new school year approaches, Prince William Public Libraries is ready to provide students of all ages with a well-rounded environment for learning and relaxation. With resources and programs designed to aid students, PWPL is a vital hub for educational support in the community.
Need a place to study or write your first paper? PWPL has small meeting rooms at seven branches that are perfect for study sessions. These rooms offer a quiet, dedicated space where students can focus on their studies, collaborate on group projects, or receive tutoring in a distraction-free environment. Booking these rooms is simple, making it easy for students to plan their study time effectively. Visit pwcva.gov/library or open the new mobile app and click “Reserve a Room” to get started.
The Digital Library is another resource offered by Prince William Public Libraries, and – even better – you can access it 24/7 from anywhere. Try out HelpNow for live, certified educator assistance for grades K – college, allowing students to get help with their homework and studies from the comfort of their homes. Additionally, the Digital Library offers a wealth of learning resources, including e-books, educational videos, and interactive tools on various subjects and grade levels.
Beyond academics, the library recognizes the importance of helping students manage stress and find balance. Montclair Library’s Gaming Lounge is a popular spot where students can unwind and have fun. Equipped with various gaming consoles and a selection of games, it provides a perfect escape from the pressures of schoolwork. Like study rooms, you can reserve the Gaming Lounge on pwcva.gov/library or the PWPL mobile app.
PWPL also hosts various programs that encourage learning, fun, and friendship-building. From arts and crafts programs to STEM activities and book clubs, there’s something for everyone. These programs not only enrich students' learning experiences but also offer opportunities for social interaction and personal growth.
Did you know that PWPL provides scholarships for residents who are at least 20 years old and want to earn their high school diploma? Career Online High School is an online high school diploma and career certification program. Take a free self-assessment at pwcva.gov/cohs to see if Career Online High School might be right for you.
As students head back to school, PWPL is ready to support them with resources and programs designed to foster both academic success and personal well-being. There’s so much more available in our libraries and pwcva.gov/library. If you’re unsure where to start, stop by and ask a friendly staff member. We look forward to seeing you this school year!
