Send the Kids for a Night Out
Plan that date night and send your kids to us on Friday, April 4 (6-9 pm) for a kid’s night out at Veterans Memorial Park. It will be fun-filled evening designed to give children ages 5-12 a night of adventure and excitement while parents enjoy some time off. This program is packed with activities like games, music, arts and crafts. Kids will get the chance to play, socialize, and explore in a safe, supervised environment, all while enjoying snacks and refreshments. Register your child today.
Go Line Dancing
Whether you’re about to celebrate a birthday, wedding, graduation party, or cruise, this class will get you ready to step, bounce, rock, or shimmy. Catch a Miracle League Baseball Game
The spring 2025 season of our Miracle League baseball program kicks off its first game on Saturday, April 12 at 9 am. All games are scheduled to take place at Dr. Richard Tami Miracle at George Hellwig Memorial Park. There will be a short opening day ceremony prior to the game featuring a surprise special guest, and we will honor our Miracle League players and volunteer Angels in the Outfield Buddies. Volunteers are still needed. If you’d like to volunteer you can sign up here to assist during games. Either way, we encourage you to come on out to cheer on the team—you will surely be inspired!
Learn Archery as a Family
Looking for an activity your whole family will have fun learning together? Then sign up for one of our family archery classes. Dates are available in April and May at four different locations. This program focuses on archery fundamentals. Each participant is taught range rules, bow and arrow safety, correct form, and stance from our certified instructors. Equipment is provided. Visit the Rippon Lodge Easter Egg Trail
The Easter bunny made his fun activity trail for your enjoyment at Rippon Lodge Historic Site on Saturday, April 12. Look for hidden objects, do physical tasks, tell a joke and more to receive your eggs as you walk through the historic home. Family members may join in the fun! Keep an eye out for those special prize eggs.
Timed walks by age group will take place between 10 am – 2:30 pm. (Family units no larger than 4 allowed at one time.) Please note you’ll be walking along uneven surfaces and stairs. Parental supervision is required. Bring your own basket. Hunt times are: 10:00-11:00 am for children 3 and under; 11:30 am-12:30 pm for ages 4-6; and 1:30-2:30 pm for ages 7 to 11. Space is limited. Advanced registration is required. $10 per person. Fee is $5 for kids ages 4 and under. This is a popular event so get registered today.
Hike Under a Full Moon
Grab your flashlights and join our park naturalists for a slow-paced, VIP hike along the beautiful Neabsco Creek Boardwalk on Saturday, April 12, 7-9 pm. You'll enjoy learning about the flora and fauna of the area, as well as some fascinating facts about the fully illuminated moon. We'll finish our hike with a yummy smore by the firepit! Attend a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
Please join us for a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, April 16 at 1 pm, as we celebrate the opening of the new non-motorized small boat launch at Neabsco Regional Park! The launch will allow visitors to take their kayaks out through the Neabsco Creek which connects to the Potomac River. Four new accessible parking spaces off of Blackburn Road have also been added at the park to allow for easier access for people with disabilities. A historical marker will also be unveiled during the ceremony.
**Please note the ribbon cutting will take place at the North Landing of the Neabsco Creek Boardwalk (near the main entrance to the Boardwalk.) Please arrive a few minutes early and follow the paved path down to the landing.
Go Egg Hunting at Brentsville Courthouse
Peter Rabbit has been making trouble again at Brentsville. He’s taken all the candy and toys in our eggs, replacing them with tasks and riddles! He won’t give back the goods unless you solve the puzzles. Due to his mischievous nature, Peter made challenges tailored for each family who dares to try and solve them. He would like to include everyone and make it a fair and fun challenge for all! Come join us to see if you can you find the all the eggs he hid, piece together the clues, and solve his puzzle. 30 minute time slots available between 10 am - 2 pm, on Saturday, April 19 at Brentsville Courthouse Historic Centre. $35 per egg hunt. Attend a Free Pilates Workshop
There are a few spots left for our free Pilates principles educational workshop at Dale City Recreation Center on Saturday, April 26 (12:30-1:45 pm). Pilates, a prominent fitness method developed by Joseph Pilates, is guided by foundational principles that have made it a timeless practice in the fitness and wellness world. Join us at this educational workshop to learn the foundational principles and how to apply them to your daily activities: breathing, concentration, control-centering, precision, balanced muscle development, rhythm /flow, whole-body movement, and relaxation. Ben Lomond’s history spans centuries, from a Civil War hospital to a presidential retreat to a working farm. Come experience the Ben Lomond Historic Site’s varied history on Ben Lomond Day!
