The Prince William County Solid Waste Division

About Us

As a vital part of Prince William County's commitment to a cleaner and greener future, our division plays a crucial role in managing and reducing waste through innovative and efficient practices.

The Solid Waste Management Division of Public Works is responsible for the operation of the landfill, trash disposal, recycling, composting, household hazardous waste collection, and environmental controls to safeguard the community

Our mission is to protect public health and the environment by ensuring responsible waste disposal, encouraging recycling, and supporting initiatives that minimize waste generation.

The System

The Solid Waste Division maintains two convenience centers where County residents may dispose of their residential trash, bulk trash, recycling, and yard waste. These centers are located at the landfill complex and the compost facility. The division also provides recycling trailers and glass-only trailers at several satellite locations. Saturday collection sites for trash and recycling are also available for County residents.
