Police
The Prince William County Police Department aims to deliver efficient and effective police services through shared responsibility with the community that enhance quality of life and foster public trust. The Department is nationally accredited with an authorized strength of 701 sworn officers, composed of four divisions and 14 bureaus.
Fire & Rescue
Prince William County’s fire and rescue system is comprised of the Department of Fire and Rescue and eight volunteer fire and rescue departments. These organizations collectively work together to provide high quality and efficient firefighting and emergency medical services to Prince William County. The County’s Department of Fire and Rescue currently consists of 722 members, a combination of civilian and uniformed personnel.
Sheriff’s Office
The Prince William County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with elected leaders, staff and citizens, provides a safe and secure Judicial Complex. Other mandates include service of all civil process, including subpoenas, levies, seizures, and evictions; internal affairs; training; and timely transport for prisoners and patients. The Office serves the citizens of Prince William County, the cities of Manassas and Manassas Park, and the towns of Dumfries, Occoquan, Quantico and Haymarket.
Emergency Management
The County’s Office of Emergency Management coordinates efforts to ensure that the County is able to mitigate against, prepare for, respond to and recover from any type of natural or human-caused disaster. The County uses an all-hazards approach to emergency preparedness, which means that planning efforts consider all types of disasters that could occur in the County. Emergency Management resides under the Department of Fire and Rescue.
Public Safety Communications
Public Safety Communications operates a 24-hour consolidated call processing and dispatch center for all 911 and non-emergency requests for the Police Department, Sheriff’s Office, and Fire & Rescue services within PWC and the incorporated towns. Fire & Rescue calls for service are also processed and dispatched for the City of Manassas and the City of Manassas Park.
