Call 800-FOR ROAD (800-367-7623) for information on snow removal or to inform the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) of any snow removal problems. TTY users can call 711.

Road Priorities - Snow is first removed from predetermined Snow Emergency Routes. Roads are cleared from highest to lowest traffic volume. Priority is always given to the roads most needed by the community as a whole, generally in this order:

• Interstates (I-95 I-66 I-495 etc.)
• High-volume routes (Route 1 Route 28 Prince William Parkway etc.)
• Main thoroughfares in neighborhoods or developments
• Residential streets
• Cul-de-sacs

VDOT has a new web tool that shows the status of plowing in northern Virginia neighborhoods. The webpage at www.vdotplows.org  activates when two or more inches have accumulated.
