If you do not know where to begin, we encourage all customers to visit our Early Assistance Desk for prompt assistance and expedited services. They'll explain the step-by-step process and point you to a team of experts and/or the Small Business Project Management team, who are notified by our E-Alert system and ready to serve.

STEP 1: BEFORE PURCHASING A BUILDING OR SIGNING A LEASE
Determine the existing conditions of your selected property and how they may impact your type of business, by asking the current owner/lessor. Contact us to confirm your findings and determine the impact, before deciding and commencing the regulatory process to open your business.
STEP 2: SELECT YOUR PROJECT MANAGEMENT TEAM
Selecting an experienced project manager is essential to ensuring you 'Open on Time, on Cost' based on your agreed Scope of Work to make your business operational. Your project manager will typically handle the entire process from purchasing/leasing property, design, permitting, construction and inspections. Failing to get this right will result in avoidable delays.
STEP 3: OBTAIN AN ESTIMATED PROJECT BUDGET & SCHEDULE
When you have selected your Project Manager it is critical to establish how you need the space to be designed for your business. Once a realistic Scope of Work is established, your Project Manager can provide and estimated project schedule and budget.
STEP 4: ASK FOR FREE ADVICE
Meet with one of our professionals to ensure your project meets with Code Regulations; help you understand the process; and address any other concerns. Then it is time to submit your plans for County approval!
STEP 5: SMALL BUSINESS PROJECT MANAGEMENT PROGRAM – A STEP-BY-STEP GUIDED PROCESS
Our team of experts are here to guide your project through the County approval process and assign you a Project Manager that will remain your project point-of-contact through to completion.
STEP 6: FOLLOW-UP SITE VISIT
Ensuring customer satisfaction and on-time delivery is very important to us. The Commercial Development Administrator will be in touch in the initial days of opening your new business. In the meantime, please contact us anytime.
