What type of grants are available?
Prince William County offers two types of arts grants—the General Operating Grant and the New & Emerging Grant.
The General Operating Grant is available to assist organizations of artistic merit in fulfilling their mission by providing funds to encourage their advancement. The General Operating Grant provides a base of operating support to arts organizations in the community in recognition of the valuable programs and services they provide. General Operating Grants also contribute to the permanence of these organizations in the community and help ensure diverse artistic offerings and experiences for residents.
The New & Emerging Grant is available to provide seed money to new and emerging arts organizations that are less than three (3) years old. The New & Emerging Grants aim to provide operating support to new arts organizations that offer valuable services to the community. Priority is given to those with high artistic quality, effective management, fundraising efforts, and community engagement.
Please note that applicants may apply for only one of the two grants.
Who is eligible for the grants?
General Operating Grants are open to organizations with 501(c) 3 status, registered under Guidestar.org, and able to provide a letter from IRS dated within an 18-month period.
All nonprofit arts organizations in the greater Prince William County area, to include City of Manassas and Manassas Park, are encouraged to attend the mandatory workshop on March 24 and apply.
How much are the grant awards?
Grant award amounts will vary and all grants are subject to funds available from Prince William County Government. Grant funds are not guaranteed to any organization and no single organization can receive more than 25% of the total available County funds.
For awardees with annual budgets less than $100,000 income, grant eligibility is limited to a maximum of 20% of the most completed fiscal year’s income as defined in the calculation of the application format.
For awardees with annual budgets $100,000 or greater, grants are limited to a maximum of 15% of the previous year’s eligible income as defined in the calculation of the application format.
