Public transportation, such as buses, commuter rail and subway systems, brings customers and employees to businesses and plays an important role in the economy. That means that as the local transit provider, OmniRide is vital to our Prince William County local economy, as well as the Northern Virginia and D.C. economic development.
OmniRide is the operating name for the mobility services offered by the Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission (PRTC). The agency provides Local bus service in Prince William County, Manassas and Manassas Park; Express service for commuters along the I-95 and I-66 corridors to employment centers in Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C.; and Metro Express which connects riders with Metro Stations.
OmniRide’s Transportation Demand Management (TDM) program helps to educate the public on the benefits of alternative transportation versus single-occupancy vehicles. This is often done through TDM employer services, which assists employers who want to create and expand commuter benefit programs for their employees. There is a range of commuter benefit options that can be customized to meet everyone’s needs. OmniRide’s Employer Services program is FREE for all businesses in Prince William County, Manassas and Manassas Park. It assists with the formation of carpools and vanpools, the creation of teleworking programs, provides strategies to companies to help them become a Bike Friendly workplace, and helps employers who wish to implement a transit subsidy program. When local businesses can recruit and retain employees, it helps to fuel growth in the local economy.
As a part of this program, the agency leads an Employer Council that seeks to partner with employers, both large and small. OmniRide gains valuable information for future planning efforts and businesses get advice on the ways they can incorporate OmniRide services into their business plans.
