The flowering dogwoods are blooming, the northern cardinals are singing, and Prince William Public Libraries is welcoming spring with new books and other items in our collection, ways to enjoy our spaces, and exciting programs. Here are a few ways PWPL can help you make the most out of spring.
Check Out These Items
Are you hoping to introduce gardening to your little ones this spring? Check out "Logan's Greenhouse" by JaNay Brown-Wood. Join Logan as he searches for carrots in his wheelchair-accessible greenhouse in this vibrant exploration of gardening and healthy eating from the Where in the Garden? picture book series. Join author JaNay Brown-Wood at Montclair Library on Saturday, April 26, for the chance to win a signed copy!
“The Junior Plant Lover’s Handbook: A Green Thumb Guide for Kids” by Molly Williams is another great gardening resource that just hit the shelves. This illustrated guide provides young readers with information about the soil and temperature requirements for growing their own gardens and a glossary of terms.
If you're planning a nice picnic with the family, check out "Forest Magic for Kids: How to Find Fairies, Make a Secret Fort, and Cook Up an Elfin Picnic." This colorful book includes 50 activities for kids to get excited about nature and explore the outdoors.
Planning a road trip with the family during spring break? Be sure to pick up a WhaZoodle. This fun, interactive audio device looks and works like any portable audio device but is preloaded with podcasts, music, and other audio content and doesn't require Wi-Fi.
Speaking of that road trip, place a hold today on an "I Love Virginia State Parks" backpack. These backpacks are filled with a free admission pass that can be used at any Virginia State Park, maps, and pocket guides.
Visit Our Outdoor Spaces
If you want to visit one of our 12 libraries, don't forget to stop by one of our story trails! PWPL currently has four story trails at Central, Chinn Park, Haymarket Gainesville, and Independent Hill Libraries.
Our Pollinator Gardens should start seeing some of our favorite winged visitors in the coming weeks. Be sure to visit our gardens at Bull Run, Central, Haymarket Gainesville, Independent Hill, Montclair, and Nokesville Libraries to see the flora and fauna today!
There's so much to see and do at Prince William Public Libraries this spring. Enjoy the great outdoors (and air-conditioned indoors). Try a new hobby, learn a new skill, or enjoy a nice read. Visit pwcva.gov/library to plan your next visit.
