Management and Budget Office Earns Distinguished Budget Award for 37th Year

The Government Finance Officers Association, or GFOA, recently presented its Distinguished Budget Presentation Award to Prince William County for the county’s Fiscal Year 2025 Budget.  

This marks the 37th consecutive year Prince William County has received the award, which demonstrates the county’s commitment to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting in the following areas: 

  • as a policy document 

  • a financial plan 

  • an operations guide 

  • a communications device 

To receive the award, budget documents must be proficient in all four areas as well as 14 mandatory criteria within those areas. 

 “This recognition from the Government Finance Officers Association is a testament to Prince William County’s unwavering commitment to the highest principles of government budgeting,” said Prince William County Executive Chris Shorter. “Our Office of Management and Budget consistently delivers work that meets rigorous standards for transparency, accountability, and strategic financial planning. Earning this award for the 37th consecutive year speaks volumes about the team’s dedication to maintaining fiscal responsibility and excellence in service to our residents.”
