This May marks a significant milestone as we celebrate the 45th anniversary of Building Safety Month, an initiative established by the International Code Council to promote safety in building practices. The 2025 campaign theme, “Game On!”, introduces an engaging and educational approach to building safety through five distinct weekly themes.
Each week will focus on different aspects of creating safe and sustainable structures, emphasizing the importance of adopting modern building codes that are regularly updated. The weekly themes are designed to engage individuals, families, and businesses alike: The Warm Up; Build Your Offense; Build Your Defense; The Starting Line Up; and Going Into Overtime. These themes will provide valuable insights and practical tips that underscore the vital role of well-trained professionals dedicated to ensuring building safety throughout the year.
We invite everyone to get their ‘Game On!’ by actively participating. Find Building Safety tips and resources at these libraries: Bull Run; Chinn Park; Haymarket Gainesville; and Montclair throughout the month of May.
We encourage you to spread the word on social media by using hashtags #BuildingSafetyMonth2025 and #BuildingSafety365. Let’s work together to promote a culture of safety and sustainability in our communities! https://www.pwcva.gov/building-safety-month
