School outreach continues to be a significant focal point for FFM's Professional Development, Intern, & Apprenticeship Program. A leading concept learned during attendance at the recent Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) Workforce Conference is the need for industry's presence and partnership in education from K through 16, not just high school and college.
The industry as a whole must provide information about career opportunities early so students can better align themselves on the proper pathways by the time, they reach high school. This is especially true for careers that are critically short of talent, and shortages are anticipated to grow.
FFM is on the forward edge, leading the development of initiatives partnering with Prince William County Schools (PWCS) and local colleges. We are also creating professional development opportunities for current employees in addition to training initiatives to attract, hire, and retain great talent. We are looking forward to being able to roll out initiatives in the upcoming year.
FFM's focus is not only the responsible thing to do, but it also aligns directly with the County's Strategic Plan, Goal 4, Quality Education & Workforce Development.
