Prince William County Government is excited to announce its second Career Expo, a premier networking and hiring event designed to connect job seekers with diverse career opportunities within the county. The Expo will take place on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Hylton Performing Arts Center located at 10960 George Mason Circle, Manassas, on George Mason University's Prince William Campus.
This unique event, organized by the Office of Human Resources, showcases the various county services and the career opportunities available. The event is open to all individuals interested in exploring employment with Prince William County Government. Whether you are an experienced professional looking for a full-time career move or just entering the workforce, the county has positions that may interest you, including apprenticeships, internships, seasonal and part-time positions and volunteer opportunities.
"The Expo is a great way for attendees to explore the many career opportunities the county has to offer while getting tips on the recruiting and selection process, as well as information about benefits, training and professional development opportunities offered by the county," said Human Resources Manager Adreanne Simms.
The event will feature hiring managers, current employees and personnel staff from over 20 county departments who have extensive knowledge about career opportunities and county services. These representatives will be available for interviews and discussions, offering attendees insights into the required skills and experience for success in various job roles. Throughout the day, informational sessions will be held to guide attendees through the recruiting and selection process and provide tips on submitting strong applications.
“This is NOT your typical job fair! The county hosted its inaugural Career Expo this past spring, and from that event, we extended 28 job offers! So, we are encouraging participants to bring their A-Game. With feedback from hiring managers and Expo attendees, we are planning bigger, and we endeavor to double that number at this event,” Simms said.
“Prince William County is a phenomenal place to work, and we would love for people to check out the jobs we have available,” said County Executive Chris Shorter. “I encourage all those interested in having a career in public service to come to the Expo, learn about the great benefits of working for Prince William County and the rewarding work of serving your community. We have about 40 lines of business in the county, so there truly is something for everyone.”
A career in public service provides an opportunity to give back to the community while enjoying a range of benefits, including:
Optional, affordable, comprehensive medical plans
Life insurance
Virginia State Retirement, 401A and 457 retirement accounts
Paid personal days
Paid holidays
Online training
Generous leave accrual from date of hire
Hiring incentives for some positions
Remote and telework eligibility where business needs allow
"Our positions also qualify for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. We invest in our staff to ensure they have the skills and tools they need to succeed," Simms said. "We invite you to choose local, choose public service and see yourself here. Put an end to your long commute and explore opportunities with county government. With locations across the county, there is a place for you here, likely close to where you live and play."
