Beginning Tuesday, September 7th, the Department of Development Services Building Development Division will be increasing support to Prince William County homeowners and the Solar Energy Industry by implementing an all new Residential Solar Energy Systems ePlans Checklist for solar panel installation building permit and plan review requirements in Prince William County.
The checklist will be readily accessible on the Building Development Forms Management System, which provides easy, 24/7 online access to all forms related to the building development process and the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code (VUSBC).
Wade A. Hugh, Director, Department of Development Services said: "We are trusted to deliver excellence in all that we do to ensure accuracy, compliance and safety in the Building and Construction Industry. This new checklist marks another step forward in the Prince William County permitting process, to ensure it is well defined and made clear for all residents and contractors.”
The checklist shall provide guidance on the minimum building code information required on a solar panel installation design/build plan, to be accepted as a plan to be submitted with a building permit application and approved by the County. By providing all the information listed on the checklist, it supports a positive customer experience and successful interactions with designers and plan reviewers, which results in a faster turnaround time, by expediting the overall review process.
Prince William County offers Solar Energy Systems Tax Exemptions for solar energy equipment, facilities, or devices. To learn more on what Prince William County is doing on Residential Solar Energy Permitting Process Improvement Efforts, check out the latest news release.
