In observance of Building Safety Month in May, join Prince William County’s free “Building Safety Starts With You!” Community Outreach Events that will take place each week to raise awareness about building and fire safety at home.
Learn about the importance of building and fire safety in residential construction, home DIY projects and property maintenance. Find out ways to keep your home and family safe and how to promote building safety in your neighborhood.
Building Safety Inspectors and Fire Marshals will be available to answer frequently asked questions and attendees will find out about the permitting process for home projects. In addition, attendees can enter a chance to win a ‘Raffle Prize’ and take home safety information, brochures and more.

These Prince William County free community outreach events support International Code Council’s 43rd annual Building Safety Month. This year’s month-long campaign theme is “Building Safety Starts With You!” which will explore how building safety impacts us all on personal, local, and global levels through weekly themes:
Prince William County’s growth and strength, in part, is due to the safety of buildings - homes, schools, and businesses. The resilience of buildings that make up our community is achieved through the devotion of vigilant guardians – building safety and fire prevention officials, architects, engineers, builders, tradespeople, design professionals, laborers, plumbers, and YOU!
