Families and outdoor enthusiasts alike, come join our Park Ranger Division in celebrating Earth Day on the boardwalk.
? Discover the nature and history of Wetland Preserves. Wetlands are natural treasures because they provide flood control and slow run off, which helps to improve water quality. The Julie Metz Wetlands help to protect and restore not only the creek, but the Potomac River and the Chesapeake Bay. It is a rich and diverse wildlife habitat with 200 observed plant and 200 observed bird species alone!
Staff will bring water quality test kits, hands-on learning items, VA wildlife displays and even a Flood Plain Simulator.
