Welcome to the Fire Marshal's Office
The mission of the Prince William County Fire Marshal’s Office is to prevent the inception of fire and hazardous conditions through timely and professional educational, enforcement, inspection, investigative and plans review efforts essential to the safety and well-being of the community.
This is accomplished by 23 uniform and non-uniform personnel who are trained and certified to enforce a variety of fire prevention regulations to include the Uniform Statewide Fire prevention Code. Additionally, on duty uniformed Fire Marshals provide coverage 24 hour 7 days a week to respond to and investigate code compliance, fire, explosive and environmental incidents.

- Fire Lane Plan Review - The Application for Fire Lane Permit can be found here. Email the application and site plan to [email protected].
- Fire Evacuation Plan Review – The Application for Fire Safety & Evacuation Plan review can be found here. Email submission packet to [email protected].
- Fire Operational Permits – Operational permit applications can be found here. Email applications to [email protected] or mail application to:

- Group Home Inspections – for group homes businesses, zoning and permitting approvals are required first. Once these approvals are received, email [email protected], or call 703-792-6360 to schedule the inspection.
- Day Care Inspections – for daycare businesses, zoning and permitting approvals are required first. Once these approvals are received, [email protected], or call 703-792-6360 to schedule the inspection.
- FOIA Requests – the FMO FOIA request form can be found here. Please submit the completed FOIA request form to [email protected].
- LEPC Tier II Report submissions – please email both PDF and t2s version to [email protected].
- Safety inspection follow-up questions, please submit to [email protected].
- Online payments for Fire Protection (FPP) and Building (BLD) permits, fees cannot be seen on the e-Portal until they are invoiced. Please call building development at 703-792-6294 to request invoicing to e-Portal.
