Spend a Day at Neabsco Regional Park

Neabsco Regional Park has so much to offer with plentiful nature encompassing 300 acres along with recreational and historic amenities. There is so much to explore from Rippon Lodge Historic Site, to the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail, the Julie J. Metz Neabsco Creek Wetlands Preserve and the popular Neabsco Creek Boardwalk, which sees thousands of visitors each year. 

Spend the day at the Boardwalk birdwatching or seeing what other wildlife you can spot, such as beavers, muskrats, bald eagles or snapping turtles to name a few. Or just take a leisurely stroll and get your steps in while enjoying nature and the beautiful scenery that surrounds you. You can also plan to participate in one of our many events or programs that takes place at the Boardwalk, such as yoga, hikes or stargazing. The Boardwalk has also become a favorite spot for photographers who have captured amazing photos of wildlife in their element.

Neabsco Park offers several outdoor fitness stations along a paved path, as well as a playground, and a pavilion with a grill, available on a first come, first served basis—making it the perfect spot for everyone in the family to enjoy a day outdoors.

Know Before You Go
* Neabsco Creek Boardwalk: The Neabsco Creek Boardwalk is 10’ wide and 3,300’ long (.625 miles), with a two-level observation deck, a single-level observation deck and three overlooks. The Boardwalk is ADA accessible via a paved trail from the parking lot. The walkway is part of the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail, which was established by Congress in 1983 designating an 800-mile trail network of locally managed trails stretching from the Allegheny Mountains in Pennsylvania to the Potomac River, winding through Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington, D.C. and Virginia. 

* Rippon Lodge & Landing: Rippon Lodge was built circa 1747. It is one of the oldest known homes in Prince William County. Situated on 40+ picturesque acres, visitors can tour the home, participate in a number of special events, or reserve the facility for weddings and other events. 

Upcoming Events
In September, register for our twilight hike on Saturday, September 14 where you’ll join park naturalists for this fun family program that brings you up close and personal with some of the wetlands best known inhabitants. Look for and listen for the sounds of beavers, owls, deer, and other wetland critters, then meet back at our warm firepit for a delicious smore. Bring a flashlight, this will be a hike to remember! 

In October come back to the park to enjoy the beautiful colors of fall or sign up for our full moon hike on Saturday, October 19. You'll enjoy learning about the flora and fauna of the area, as well as some fascinating facts about the Hunter's Moon. And of course we’ll end the night by the fire enjoying smores.
