Prince William County Hosts Black History Month Event. In observance of Black History Month, the Prince William County Black History Committee will host a live virtual event on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. with a health and wellness panel featuring local professionals in mental, physical, dental, and internal health. This year’s theme is “Black Health and Wellness”. The theme focuses on the importance of black health and wellness, acknowledging the legacy of black scholars and medical practitioners in Western medicine as well as other practitioners throughout the African diaspora. This year’s theme considers the activities, rituals, and initiatives that black communities have practiced improving wellbeing.
Scheduled to appear on the panel are Dr. Nahee Williams McDonald, DDS, PC, with Precious Smiles of Virginia, Pediatric Dentistry; Dr. Aminah Jones, MD, a family and lifestyle medicine physician; Thesa Cowart, Art Square, Jr, and Laurie Wilson with Marriage and Family Therapy Solutions, LLC and was awarded a state grant through the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services. Moderators for the panel will be Keona Palmer, Prince William County Black History Committee Vice-Chairperson, and myself. The panel will answer questions in real-time and questions previously submitted. An advertised link will be forthcoming through social media and other outlets.
