The Department of Defense recognizes military children during April because of their service, commitment and sacrifice to support the mission of the armed services. It is important to honor and celebrate the military’s youngest heroes.
The Prince William Board of County Supervisors recently proclaimed April 2023 as the Month of the Military Child to recognize children’s roles in strengthening the military family and acknowledge the unique challenges military children face daily with courage and dignity beyond their years.
Whether it’s enduring deployments, reintegrating into new states and countries, caring for wounded warrior parents or coping with the loss of a fallen parent, the military child remains resilient and strong and exemplifies an amazing capacity to adapt.
Prince William County is the proud home to numerous children of military families. By ensuring their safety and support in their schools and communities, uniformed military men and women in Prince William County can focus on their challenges and missions.
