Great Pumpkin Party - Friday, October 18
Ready for a super fun parent and child event with the little ones? Wear your favorite costume and get ready to enjoy games, music, dancing, crafts and yummy snacks. Program is for ages 2-5 to participate with a parent/guardian and will be held at Sharron Baucom Dale City Recreation Center on October 18, 10:30 am – noon. Fall Festival: Pat White Center’s 50th Anniversary Celebration – Saturday, October 19 – FREE Event
The Pat White Center has been a hub for the community for the past 50 years, providing programming, events and spaces for community members to gather and create new experiences and memories. Join us to celebrate this milestone at our Fall Festival: 50th Anniversary Celebration! Get a glimpse of our programs and experience fun activities for all ages including food trucks, STEAM projects, musical instrument demonstrations, pumpkin cookie decorating, giveaways and more! The event will run from 10 am – 2 pm and is free and open to all.
Holiday Craft Decorations – Wednesday, October 23
Introduce your little one to the joys of decorating for Halloween/harvest season. At this holiday craft decorating class at the Pat White Center at Ben Lomond, they will be making simple crafts with easy-to-follow directions with a side of messy and fun! This program is designed for children ages 3-5 to attend with a parent or guardian. Register here to join us on October 23, 10 – 11 am.
Littlest Chefs: Pumpkin Patch Pudding – Friday, October 25
Join us at Sharron Baucom Dale City Recreation Center for a culinary adventure where tiny hands will create yummy goodies and big smiles! Your little one will explore the joys of cooking in a safe, supportive environment. Guided by an instructor, your child will engage in age-appropriate cooking activities, from mixing and measuring to decorating their own tasty creations. For ages 3-5. Two sessions available on October 25, 9:30-10:30 am or 11:00 am to 12 pm. All children participating in this program must be registered. Campfire Ghost Stories of Ben Lomond – Friday, October 25
Ben Lomond has a diverse and grim history as a Civil War hospital, a farm and a private home. Over the years, many local residents have claimed to see ghosts and other spooky happenings at the site. Is Ben Lomond haunted or not? Join us for an eerie evening around the campfire to hear some of the ghost stories associated with the historic site. Bring your own chair and flashlight. Purchase tickets here ($5). Children 6 and under are free. Program runs from 7:30 – 9:00 pm, October 25.
Family Movie Night in the Park – Halloween Edition! – Saturday, October 26
A FREE family movie night in the park is the perfect way to relax and enjoy a safe and special night under the stars. Come early to Veterans Park and get a good seat! The movie will begin at sunset. Please bring your own lawn chairs and blankets for seating. A parent or guardian must attend with children under the age of 16. The movie will be Halloween-themed, and you can vote to decide what movie it will be! Click here to help us pick a movie!
Family Pumpkin Carving – Saturday, October 26
Does your family love to carve pumpkins? If so, come join us at our Family Pumpkin Carving Contest! Start planning your scary, spooky, happy, fun, and/or silly pumpkin designs! Each family will receive carving utensils and one pumpkin to carve to submit for judging. Event held at Veterans Memorial Park. All participating family members must be registered for this event. Haunted Mini Golf at Locust Shade Park – October 26 & 27
Enjoy a game of haunted mini golf at Locust Shade Park! Beware of any frightful weather. Family friendly, for ghouls of all ages. Swing your life away on our 18-hole haunted course on Saturday and Sunday, October 26 and 27, 10 am – 5:30 pm, $6 fee. All ages welcome.
The Haunted Gro Trail – Tuesday, October 29
Parent/guardians along with children ages 2-8 can enjoy our costume party at James Long Regional Park from 4-6 pm on October 29. We’ll have Halloween games and activities and of course trick-or-treating all wrapped into our adventure trail experience—Halloween edition! Come dress up in your Halloween costume for an afternoon of spooky fun! Child must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Fee is per child and all participating children must be registered. October Celebration with Glow in the Dark Week Fitness Classes – October 28-31
Get ready for a fun week of Glow in the Dark Fitness Classes! Beginning Monday, October 28, we switch the lights off and turn the glow lights on! Participants are encouraged to wear white or bright colors then add tons of glow bracelets and necklaces to get into the spirit! Classes are free for passholders of Sharron Baucom Dale City Recreation Center and/or Chinn Aquatics & Fitness Center. $12 drop-in free for non-members. Sign up here.

Join us for a “Spooky Step” haunted theme Halloween class on Wednesday, October 30! We are going to have a super gremlin, wicked, thriller step class! Dress in your disturbia wardrobe and step your heart away! Sign up here for advance level or here for our all level step class.
Spooky Total Body Strength – Thursday, October 31
Join instructor Andrea B. at Sharron Baucom Dale City Recreation Center for a spine-tingling, spooky total body strength class. Lifting weights doesn’t have to be scary! We want to make our skeletons strong! Come decked out in your Halloween costume and be ready for a wicked workout. Register today.
