Governor Orders Prince William County and Northern Virginia to Delay Entering Phase One

Virginia Governor Ralph Northam has issued Executive Order Sixty-Two, which orders Prince William County and Northern Virginia to delay entering Phase One of the “Forward Virginia” plan to ease restrictions on certain business operations that were put in place due to COVID-19. Executive Order Sixty-Two orders Northern Virginia to delay implementation of Phase One until midnight on Thursday, May 28, 2020, to provide those localities more time to meet the health metrics.

Executive Order Sixty-Two orders counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William; the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Manassas, and Manassas Park and the towns of Dumfries, Herndon, Leesburg, and Vienna to remain in Phase Zero, as requested by officials in those localities. The towns of Occoquan, Quantico and Haymarket also remain in Phase Zero.

Data shows that Northern Virginia is substantially higher than the rest of the Commonwealth in the percentage of positive tests for COVID-19. For more information on COVID-19 and Prince William County, log on to the website at www.pwcgov.org/covid19.
