The Prince William Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism, or DRPT, recently kicked off its family-friendly concert series “Fridays at 5,” featuring the audience-engaging band “Perfekt Blend,” a face-painting station, a beer garden and Memaw’s Table food truck.
“It’s an outdoor summer concert series to showcase local artists in the area and also give the public an opportunity to come out to our venue and listen to the different genres of music that we have scheduled,” DRPT Recreation Senior Manager Janet LaFleur said.
Roughly 300 people showed up for the music, food, dancing, relaxation and fun, LaFleur said. “The feedback was really good. People said they enjoyed themselves. They were asking if we were going to make this an annual thing.”
Plans are in the works to continue the series next year with monthly concerts beginning in late May or early June.
The next “Fridays at Five” concert is scheduled for Aug. 19 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Sean T. Connaughton Plaza at the McCoart Government Center at 1 County Complex Court in Woodbridge with the bands “MagneLove” and the U.S. Air Force rock-pop band “Max Impact” confirmed to appear.
Luxe Events and Entertainment Design produced the event under the sponsorship of the Prince William Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism.
