Children’s Programs
From running to basketball to volleyball, we offer clinics, leagues and programs for young children to teens.
In our Ready to Run-Intro to Running program, each week kids 5-12 will engage in an organized, goal oriented outdoor running class that combines instruction on key running concepts with practical demonstrations of and participation in running activities. In this class, participants will develop physical, emotional and social skills by transforming traditional running games into powerful life lessons! Classes are separated by age group. Sign up today. Classes are held at Sharron Baucom Dale City Recreation Center.
If basketball is your child’s favorite sport, we offer clinics to help them improve their skills, as well as leagues that offer regular play during the spring to summer at Dale City. Click here to view all classes and dates available and to register. Classes are available for ages 6-16.
Adapted Programs
Prince William County Parks is proud to offer programs for individuals with disabilities, both youths and adults. We’ve got adapted programs for dance, flatwater kayaking, art and aquatics.
Our adapted dance class will help participants develop communication skills through movement. This class will encourage self-expression, creativity, and physical fitness. Class will start with easy dance moves that condition, and progress to fun steps in the center that will improve gross motor skills and coordination. Class finishes with a dance routine all can enjoy.
Come experience the freedom and joy of paddle sports! In our adapted flatwater kayaking class at Lake Ridge Park, our adapted programs instructors will help participants become comfortable with using kayaks on the water. Parents and siblings are encouraged to register as well. Participants must be able to keep a life vest on while on the water, stay seated in the boat and close lips and hold breath in case of submersion. Learn more here.
