County Partners with Human Services Alliance to Support COVID-19 Recovery Efforts in the Community

January 31, 2022 – The Prince William Board of County Supervisors has partnered with The Human Services Alliance of Greater Prince William to distribute $10 million in funds from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) to support COVID-19 recovery efforts for Prince William County residents with a focus on those who are underserved. These funds will be distributed in the form of grants to 501 (c)(3) faith-based and nonprofit organizations through the Alliance’s ARPA Community Grant Program.

Grants up to $300,000 are available for 501(c)(3) faith-based and nonprofit organizations that serve Prince William County residents to support the following measures in response to COVID-19 recovery: rent and mortgage assistance; utility assistance; access to mental and behavioral health assistance to include preventative medicine; employment support; childcare costs; emergency shelter; and hunger relief; and other critical unmet human needs.

The period to submit project proposals requesting funding opens Friday, February 18 at 9:00 a.m. and closes Sunday, March 13 at 11:59 p.m. There will be three information sessions to detail the program and how its funds can be accessed. The information sessions are being held Saturday, February 12 from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m.; Tuesday, February 15 from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.; and Wednesday, February 16 from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. All sessions will be live via Zoom. A recording of the information session will be posted on The Alliance’s website to view on demand.

“We know that this pandemic has impacted our community in many ways, especially those who are most vulnerable,” said Chair of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors Ann Wheeler. “We are very grateful to partner with The Human Services Alliance of Greater Prince William to provide funding to those organizations who can help support our residents during this time of need.”

Alliance Executive Director Chelsi Conaway said, “Since the pandemic started, nonprofits and faith-based organizations have done a tremendous job serving our area’s most vulnerable residents with basic needs assistance and various forms of relief. We are honored to help these groups access funds that will allow them to further aid in the recovery of those who have been most impacted by COVID-19.”
