Celebrate National Small Business Week with Prince William Public Libraries

single news

In support of small businesses in Prince William County and the City of Manassas, Prince William Public Libraries will host the “National Small Business Week at PWPL” program series from May 1 - 4.

Small business owners or to-be entrepreneurs will have opportunities to network, expand their knowledge, and develop new skills. “National Small Business Week at PWPL” will kick off on Monday with “Work Outside the Box” day-long program, where attendees will take a break from their office and work together at the library. Working in a new environment has been proven to jumpstart creativity and productivity. On Tuesday, business owners can meet and discuss their business experiences during “The MAGIC Touch Business Before Hours” event. On Wednesday, entrepreneurs can learn how to create, communicate, deliver, and extract marketplace value during the “Value Proposition Design” program. The event series will conclude on Thursday with “Small Business Panel” session where our local small business owners will share how they started and run their businesses.

The program series is led by MAGIC, the Management and Government Information Center, located at Chinn Park Library. MAGIC offers a special collection and information service focusing on local and state government information and publications. MAGIC assists area businesses with finding resources to start or grow a business, retrieve industry information, seek grant funding, and access laws and regulations. Last year, MAGIC was featured in "Libraries that Build Business: Advancing Small Business and Entrepreneurship in Public Libraries" book. This book spotlights ways to advance entrepreneurship in public libraries. PWPL was one of 30+ libraries nationwide that contributed to this book.

“National Small Business Week at PWPL” has been made possible thanks to PWPL’s partners in supporting area businesses, including the Prince William Chamber of Commerce, Prince William County Department of Economic Development, and Virginia Mason Small Business Development Center. PWPL also recognizes sponsors 1 Million Cups Prince William, Brickyard Woodbridge, InsideNoVa, and Keepsakes Photo Booth Woodbridge.

For more than 50 years, the U.S. Small Business Administration has celebrated National Small Business Week, which recognizes the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners. NSBW is co-hosted by SCORE, mentors to America's small businesses, and a resource partner of SBA.
