October is National Arts and Humanities Month, and the Prince William Board of County Supervisors recently proclaimed October as Arts and Humanities Month in Prince William County.
The proclamation recognized the Prince William County Arts Council for its work to elevate the arts locally.
The arts council, an umbrella organization that promotes all arts across the county, works to ensure that diversity and inclusion and to keep public engagement at the forefront of building a strong arts community through diverse programming and events. Additionally, the arts council partners with local nonprofits, school systems and local independent artists to promote understanding and give voice to the rich and varied narratives within the county.
Prince William County supports the arts council to ensure communities and organizations across the county have access to the arts. The proclamation affirmed the board’s commitment to local arts institutions, museums and libraries, which provide access that allows people to engage with the arts, humanities and diverse cultures to help create a more informed and engaged citizenry.
According to the proclamation, promoting the arts furthers the county’s policy of advancing equality, accessibility and opportunities for all people.
