The Prince William Board of County Supervisors recently proclaimed February 2023 as Benefits Program Specialists’ Appreciation Month.
Prince William County recognizes the importance of providing economic stability by administering federal and state benefit programs to over 100,000 residents. Those programs include Supplemental Nutrition Assistance, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, Medicaid assistance, subsidized childcare, Long-term Care Auxiliary Grants, Refugee Cash Assistance, employment service programs and energy assistance.
Benefit Program Specialists continue to experience the unprecedented implementation of rapidly changing complex policies and procedures in all major benefit programs, as well as continuous changes in service delivery and technology while navigating through the public health emergency and the upcoming unwinding of pandemic-specific policies.
Prince William County’s 197 benefit programs staff provides ethical public service adhering to Prince William County’s Vision and Values to ensure that those qualified for federal and state benefit services receive and continue to receive them.
