Waste and recycling industry workers serve the community by making significant contributions to the health and welfare of Prince William County residents. Proper collection and handling of waste and recyclable materials are vital to a safe and clean community by preventing disease, litter and illegal dumping.
In its Tuesday, June 7 meeting, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors declared the week of June 12, 2022, as National Waste and Recycling Workers Week and recognized June 17 as National Waste and Recycling Workers Day.
The county has recognized the week and the celebration of the waste and recycling industry since 2014.
In its proclamation, the board encouraged everyone to participate in thanking the workers in the waste and recycling industry for their positive impact in the community.
