The Office of Community Safety (OCS) is proud to announce its collaboration with the Community Healthcare Coalition of Greater Prince William (CHCGPW) to develop
its Community Health Assessment (CHA).
The CHA is a County-Wide assessment of the community’s needs and challenges that affect sustainability for our residents. This project is critical in navigating resources
and services to communities that are underserved. The CHA serves as the data collection phase of the project, where CHCGPW can assess information to develop a strategic plan to improve the socio-health and well-being of County residents. The data collected through this CHA will not only inform resources and programs within Prince William County but will also contribute to a broader understanding of health disparities and effective interventions across the Commonwealth of Virginia.
An element of OCS’ strategy to improve community safety is understanding the social determinants of public health concerns in the community and bridging resources to alleviate those factors. To gather information for the CHA, CHCGPW will conduct surveys and facilitate community conversations. Residents are encouraged to participate in the CHA Survey November 2024 through June 2025 to help foster a more secure and safe community. As a stakeholder of CHCGPW, we take priority in implementing the activities in the Community Health Improvement Plan.
Additionally, CHCGPW is hosting a series of community conversations to gather feedback about the experiences and challenges of County residents to tailor resources and solutions to better meet the needs of the community. Join us for the next community conversation, engaging 55+ residents, Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at 1:30 p.m., Haymarket Gainesville Community Library, 14870 Lightner Rd., Haymarket, VA 20169. For more information, visit Flyer - Community Conversations.
Also, CHCGPW will be seeking dedicated volunteers to fill the roles of Community Liaison and CHA Volunteer. The Community Liaison role is geared for the facilitator and Interpreter training, and the Volunteer role will assist with public health engagement.
If you are interested in facilitating a conversation or contributing to the initiative, please contact Program Manager Michele Burton at [email protected] by November 30, 2024. For more information about these opportunities please visit Virginia Department of Health.
