Summertime means all kinds of refreshing beverages in glass bottles that will need to be recycled. Residents can bring glass bottles, jugs and jars to purple bins designated “glass only recycling.”
In Prince William County, “glass only” recycling bins are located at the Prince William County Landfill, Prince William County Compost Facility (Balls Ford Road Compost Facility), the Ferlazzo Building parking lot, James Long Regional Park and the Ricter Way Parking Lot at the Prince William County Government Center just off the Prince William Parkway. There are also purple glass only recycling bins available in other locations in Northern Virginia.
Glass bottles, jugs and jars placed in the purple recycling bins in Prince William County are sent to a special glass processing facility where the material is used to make new glass containers and other products. Single-stream recycling containers are also available at each of the Prince William County locations.
Glass is no longer picked up curbside for recycling and should not be placed in curbside recycling bins or blue recycling trailers. Residents that do not want to use the purple glass recycling bins should place glass items in the trash.
