Roll Out to the Library this September for Library Card Sign-Up Month

single news

Celebrate Library Card Sign-up Month this September with Prince William Public Libraries and the American Library Association! We invite everyone to discover the incredible resources and opportunities available at your local library by signing up for a library card.

This year, we’re thrilled to have Optimus Prime from the TRANSFORMERS as our special ambassador, highlighting that there's more than meets the eye at PWPL. Whether you're looking to enhance your skills, find valuable information, or connect with fellow avid readers, a library card unlocks a world of possibilities.

Today’s libraries are vibrant community centers offering much more than just books. At PWPL, you'll find diverse programs, job search assistance, homework help, book clubs, author talks, story times, and more.

Here are just a few ways that visitors of all ages can enjoy our libraries this month and all year long:

  • Getting a library card is easy and is an essential step toward academic success and lifelong learning for students. Prince William County and City of Manassas residents ages five and up can apply for a free library card online at pwcva.gov/library and any of our libraries and Mobile Library.
  • Spark your creativity as a builder or programmer by tinkering in our makerspaces. Located at Bull Run and Central Libraries, our makerspaces are independent workspaces that provide patrons with various machines, tools, and technology to explore, build, collaborate, and create. PWPL’s Makerspaces are designed for patrons 13 years old and older.
  • Mine the library's stacks and databases for new stories and adventures. Whether you want to check out a Transformers DVD or book or try something completely new, we're always adding new titles for you to enjoy.
  • Kickstart your critical thinking skills to defeat the Decepticons of misinformation lurking online. Our Digital Library is a great place to start. With free access to digital resources, including newspapers, free online tutoring, and language learning tools, there’s so much to explore.
  • Hitting the road? Use your library card to fuel your mind with books, e-books, audiobooks, and mobile Wi-Fi hotspots. You can even check out a Chromebook to write your own Transformers fanfic or an “I Love Virginia State Parks” backpack to get free parking at all Virginia state parks!
  • Transform yourself and join us for a free library program to learn a new skill or try a new activity. Kids can enjoy reading to dogs, teens can make tabletop game dice, and adults try basket weaving!

All sentient beings – bots, humans, or anyone else who loves to read – enjoy all the library offers by signing up for a library card at pwcva.gov/library.
