Prince William County Announces Community Partner Selections for Fiscal Year 2025

During the adoption of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 Budget, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors reauthorized the county’s Community Partners program and included a 3 percent increase for existing community partners. The Board also added $250,000 to the budget to fund new, one-time Community Partner applicants.  

Earlier this year, interested community organizations submitted applications for consideration to be a Community Partner. The county formed a Community Partner Selection Committee, made of three county residents and three staff members, to score the applications based on the following: 

• The applicant must be eligible under the identified criteria. 

• The county must be able to fund the full amount requested. 

• The applicant must have a top score. 

Based on this criteria, the Selection Committee provided the following nine recommendations for the county’s FY2025 Community Partner program, which the County Executive has accepted. 

• Youth for Tomorrow - $40,000 - To meet the unmet mental and behavioral health needs of county residents. 

• Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Children’s Intervention Services - $10,000 - To protect and serve the county’s abused, neglected and abandoned children; and to provide a voice for these children in court proceedings. 

• Northern Virginia Food Rescue - $20,000 - To eliminate food insecurity in the county and provide food delivery directly to shut-in individuals, families and seniors. 

• Virginia Community Food Connections - $40,000 - To continue providing and expanding fresh food access to vulnerable county residents. 

• Edu-Futuro - $65,000 - To serve an estimated 500 disadvantaged county residents with intensive, culturally competent service navigation, case management, and job readiness support. 

• Boxes of Basics - $25,000 - To provide children with a full seasonal wardrobe.  

• Women Giving Back - $24,000 – To provide clothing, shoes, food, diapers, school supplies and other essentials to women and children in crisis throughout the county. 

• Legacy Impact - $20,000 - To support the adult English as a Second Language (ESL) Program, the Teacher Assistant (TA) Program, and the Women Empowerment and Family Wellness Workshops. 

• Casa BurMar Foundation - $6,000 – To provide capacity for the production and printing costs of reference material for PWC Crisis Intervention Training, annual symposiums, and resource fairs. 

“The Community Partner program allows the county to serve more of our residents in broader and efficient ways by empowering local organizations with additional resources to help us in addressing the needs of our community,” said County Executive Chris Shorter. “We look forward to continuing to work with our current community partners and to working with our new community partners to make meaningful change for our residents.”
