Building safety and fire prevention officials work year-round to guide the safe construction of buildings.
Members of the International Code Council that include building safety and fire prevention officials, develop and enforce building codes to protect county residents and the buildings where they work, worship, play and learn.
The Prince William Board of County Supervisors recently proclaimed May as Building Safety Month and asked county residents to consider and acknowledge the essential services local and state building departments, fire departments and federal agencies offer to the public in protecting lives and property.
This year’s theme for Building Safety Month is “Safety for All: Codes in Action.” The weekly themes for this year are: Week 1 – Energy and Innovation; Week 2 – Building Safety Careers; Week 3 – Disaster Preparedness; and Week 4 – Water Safety.
