The Prince William Board of County Supervisors recently proclaimed March as Procurement Month to recognize procurement and materials management professionals’ role in fostering government efficiency.
Procurement and materials management professionals spend significant money on behalf of their organizations and have considerable influence on the economy.
These professionals work diligently to establish and maintain ethical standards in buying and selling, increase their knowledge of efficient procurement methods, disseminate useful information to their members and promote professionalism in public purchasing.
Additionally, procurement and materials management professionals engage in or have direct responsibility for executing, implementing and administering contracts, developing forecasts and procurement strategies and developing working relationships with suppliers.
The Prince William County Department of Finance Division of Procurement Services, the Virginia Association of Governmental Procurement, the National Institute of Governmental Procurement and other professional associations throughout the world engage in special efforts during March to inform the public of the importance of the role that procurement and materials management professionals play in business, industry and government.
