The Prince William County Department of Development Services’ Building Development Division is excited to announce the launch of its latest customer service online tool to assist commercial property owners/landlords in receiving timely notification of building permit activity.

“We are delighted to roll-out the Property Owner Notification Request Form as our newest customer service online tool,” shared Mandi Spina, Director, Department of Development Services. “We are committed to facilitating timely customer services in commercial real estate development and this new online tool delivers just that!”

The new Property Owner Notification Email Alert system was implemented in response to recommendations by the Commercial Development Committee, which made it a priority goal for 2024. “It is with special thanks to the ongoing collaborative efforts of the committee and county staff that we are able to continuously deliver process improvements to our stakeholders,” said Spina. For over 25 years, the Committee has established yearly goals geared towards continually improving the commercial development process.

Commercial property owners/landlords now have the option to sign-up to receive email alerts to permit activity on their property, effective immediately. The form is available online in the Building Development Forms Management System. To apply, click on the Property Owner Notification Request Form, complete and submit the form to [email protected]. Property owner information will be added to each property and an automated email alert system for any building permit activity. If the property is sold, the County will rely on the new property owner to submit a request form.

Separately, commercial property owners can also create an ePortal account, which allows all customers to view and track permits, plans, and inspections activity online. Please follow instructions on ePortal Access, to apply.
