Prince William County residents can now view updates on Prince William County Parks and Recreation Capital Improvement Program projects through a new available dashboard. The dashboard provides updates on past, present and future projects happening in our parks system.
“Just like many community members, we too get curious when we see our favorite park under construction,” said Deputy Director for Prince William Parks and Recreation, Janet Bartnik. “We felt it would be good to share what improvements are planned, where projects are in terms of phase of construction, and a rough estimate of when the park will be back in action.”
Visitors to the dashboard can sort projects by project name, funding source, park name or magisterial district. Each project contains a project description, any updates, estimated completion and other details.
“The Department of Parks and Recreation is currently managing about 80 projects, of all sizes, large and small, and stretching all across the County,” says Bartnik.
“Some projects area residents have to look forward to are Powell’s Creek Crossing which is currently in design. The Crossing is likely to become a signature element of the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail as it passes through Prince William County; Fairmont Park, which neighbors may have noticed work that’s already been done to improve the park’s accessibility; and James Long Park where we have several projects moving in this regional park,” Bartnik added.
