Chinn Park Library will close for renovations from Monday, November 18–Sunday, December 8, 2024. The anticipated three-week closure will focus on enhancing staff offices and shared employee spaces, which have remained unchanged since the library’s opening in 1991.
The renovation aligns directly with Prince William Public Libraries' Strategic Plan, supporting the goals of "Approachable, Adaptive Experts" and "Inviting Spaces." These improvements will provide an updated and modernized workspace and equip library staff with the tools and space needed to enhance their expertise and better serve the community.
A major component of PWPL’s Strategic Plan is to foster an environment for approachable, adaptive experts who can evolve to meet the changing needs of the community. The Chinn Park Library renovation will support this by offering staff a revitalized workspace to promote collaboration, creativity, and flexibility. Upgraded technology and new equipment will enable staff to carry out their responsibilities more efficiently, improving the overall service experience for library users.
With updated meeting spaces, library staff will have access to better tools for team discussions and planning, enhancing their ability to engage the public with confidence and knowledge.
In addition to serving the community through public spaces, PWPL recognizes the importance of inviting and functional spaces for staff. Modernizing the staff areas at Chinn Park Library will promote well-being and productivity, contributing to a positive workplace culture. This aligns with PWPL’s focus on creating welcoming spaces that benefit staff and the public.
By investing in the workspace, PWPL demonstrates a commitment to its employees where they can thrive and, in turn, deliver superior service to library patrons.
While Chinn Park Library will be closed to the public during the renovation, the following will remain available:
Book Drop: The book drop will remain open for returns throughout the renovation. Check-in of materials may be delayed.
Holds: Patrons can pick up their holds at Chinn Park through Saturday, November 16. Beginning Monday, November 18, holds will be available for pickup at Lake Ridge Library.
The renovation marks an exciting chapter for Chinn Park Library as it continues to evolve in alignment with PWPL’s Strategic Plan, ensuring that staff and patrons have access to the best possible resources and spaces.
