Board Proclaims October 9 – 15 as Fire Prevention Week in Prince William County

Most fires occur within the home, where families feel safest but are at the greatest risk.

The Prince William Board of County Supervisors recently proclaimed October 9 – 15, 2022, as Fire Prevention Week in Prince William County.

This year’s Fire Prevention Week theme of “Fire Won’t Wait. Plan Your Escape!” encourages residents to develop and regularly practice a home fire escape plan that meets the needs of all their family members, including those with sensory or physical disabilities.

People who have planned and practiced a home fire escape plan are more prepared and will therefore be more likely to survive a fire.

The Prince William Board of County Supervisors is committed to ensuring the safety and security of those living in and visiting Prince William County while recognizing the value of fire prevention education for all by participating in the annual Fire Prevention Week.
