The Freedom High School Eagles Football Team went undefeated this season with a 15-0 record that took the team to district, regional and Class 6 state championships.
The Prince William Board of County Supervisors recently commended the coaches and student athletes for their contributions to the community on and off the field.
Head Coach Darryl Overton and his coaching staff, Jeff Overton, Greg Johnson, Cody Williams, TJ Washington, Toney Mooney, Chris Cousins, Krys Davis, Charles Gates and Baron Taylor led the team in one of the most dominant high school football seasons in Virginia history.
The student athletes excelled in the classroom as well. The majority of the team’s seniors have received scholarship offers, and two of the team’s seniors will graduate early and enroll in college this month.
The Freedom High School Eagles are known in the community for providing Thanksgiving dinners and holiday baskets to those in need.
Freedom High School, with the mission to “prepare lifelong learners that are productive and responsible,” has roughly 1,800 students and 18 varsity sports.
